sportscotland’s Scottish Avalanche Information Service (SAIS) provides the public with daily forecasts of the avalanche hazard and mountain conditions across popular winter mountain regions.
We are currently looking for a SAIS Coordinator who will oversee the provision of daily avalanche forecasts, ensuring service resilience and quality of public information.
You will also lead the development of a cost-effective service delivery and ensure public hazard information meets the changing nature of winter participation, public information needs, and the winter mountain environment.
The successful candidate will join on 0.8FTE or higher and must be a SAIS Senior Forecaster, or equivalent, as a minimum verified level. You should also be educated to degree level, ideally in a mountain environment related subject, or able to show comparable relevant experience.

Please note any significant regional differences and trends you have observed in your time with SAIS and consider how the service must develop over the next five years to meet the needs, and support the decision making, of the those choosing to participate in our winter mountains. (max. 1500 words)
