What sport are you involved in and what is it that you love about it?
My two main sports are shinty and football, with a little bit of volleyball on the side. I love these sports because I always find that I work best in a team and I have so many opportunities to travel around Scotland when competing in leagues, meeting loads of other players with the same interests as me and creating lifelong friendships.

What motivated you to be part of the Young People’s Sport Panel?

I have always really enjoyed sports and have completed lots of different courses over the last few years. My latest course I took part in was being in the Conference Delivery Team for the Young Ambassadors. I had such a great time and met so many new people! This is when I found out about the Young People's Sports Panel and I knew my next goal was to be a part of it. I aspire to make sure that everyone has access to sport and enjoys it as much as I do!

What do you think are (some of) the big challenges facing young people in Scotland today?

I know first hand how stressful school can get sometimes. I feel like sport is the perfect way to help relieve stress - especially during exam times - even if its just kicking a ball with some friends for a few minutes or going out on a wee walk.

How do you think sport can help support young people in Scotland?

Sports can help you develop lots of different life skills. It can help you learn to control your emotions and channel negative feelings in a positive way. I think it helps you feel more motivated, confident and patient, its also the perfect way to get out and socialise with friends.

Is there a role model who inspires you? What is it about them that you admire?

I would say my most recent role model is Scotland volleyball player Lynne Beattie, who was the captain for the women's volleyball team in the 2012 Olympics. I was given the opportunity to work and interview her in one of the Young Ambassadir conferences I did last year. I was fascinated by her life story and how she got to where she is today and she came across as such a kind and genuine person.
