Images can be uploaded to the media library and used on one or more pages.
Before uploading an image please give the file a descriptive name (rather than img1235478.jpg) as this helps search engines understand the content and simplifies the management of the media assets.
Photos should be edited before uploading to the site, if you don't have access to Photoshop, Pixlr Editor is an excellent free browser based option that'll let you crop and resize images.
Alternative text
Alternative text should be provided to describe the content of photos and graphics. This is an accessibility requirement but also helps search engines to understand the content of the page.
Any image with text embedded (should really be avoided) must have the text replicated in the alternative text.
Specifications
Images add to the download time of pages. Impatient users are often frustrated by slow loading pages especially mobile users. All photos should be optimised and properly sized for the part of the site they're going to be used in.
A full width image for the body should be resized to 700 pixels wide. In the HTML any image dimensions should be set to 100%

Flickr galleries
Create an album in flickr then paste in the code below into the HTML of your page. You'll then need to substitute the number in the middle part of the following url /albums/xxxxxxxxxxx/player with your album's unique id number.
<p><iframe width="700" height="480" src="https://www.flickr.com/photos/127756416@N07/albums/72157674667828926/player/" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="" webkitallowfullscreen="" mozallowfullscreen="" oallowfullscreen="" msallowfullscreen=""></iframe></p>
Headshots
Profile photos tend to be smaller and floated to the right of the page using the preset style 'image float right'. Be careful to test where the image appears at different resolutions as the placement can be unpredictable if there isn't much text.
Photos of children
As well as the normal consent forms we need additional caution when publishing photos of children. Firstly we need to consider what they're wearing (swimming and gymnastics). Secondly we need to be careful not to give any information that would allow them to be identified eg full name, school, club etc.
