Scottish Sports Awards 2026

Moment of the year

With The Scottish Sports Awards 2026 taking place in less just under two months, sportscotland is excited to announce the launch of the Sporting Moment of the Year 2026 public vote.

From record-breaking performances on the world stage to dramatic last-second victories and long-awaited championship triumphs, Scotland’s sporting stars have thrilled and inspired throughout the year across an impressive range of sports.

Ten outstanding Scottish sporting moments have been shortlisted by our judges, with the winner to be decided by an online public vote. The award will recognise the sporting moment from the past 12 months that has captured the hearts of the nation and made Scotland proud.

Will it be Kenny McLean’s sensational halfway-line goal against Denmark, securing Scotland’s place at the FIFA World Cup, Kirsty Muir’s first X Games slopestyle gold in Aspen, or Scotland’s men’s 3x3 basketball team producing a dramatic buzzer-beater to reach the semi-finals at Glasgow 2026 and go on to claim bronze?

Or perhaps it will be one of the remarkable achievements from Scotland’s Commonwealth and international stars: Neil Fachie becoming Scotland’s most successful Commonwealth athlete, Team Scotland’s Para Bowls pair snatching gold in a thrilling tie-break finish, Team Mouat’s semi-final victory over unbeaten Switzerland to guarantee an Olympic silver medal, or Reuben Ward making gymnastics history with all-around Commonwealth gold.

The shortlist also celebrates Josh Kerr’s world-record-breaking mile, Kirsty Gilmour’s long-awaited European Badminton Championship gold after five previous silver medals, and Melanie Woods’ remarkable Commonwealth Games gold and record in a race that had to be re-run.

Each of these moments has showcased the talent, determination and passion at the heart of Scottish sport. But which deserves to be crowned Scottish Sport Awards Sporting Moment of the Year 2026? Now it’s your turn to decide.
