Role Outline
Term Time Position
Up to 26 weeks per year
Evening & Weekend Hours: 4.5hr/week Hourly rate/expenses: £14/hour
Applications are invited for the position of Swimming Coach at the University of Strathclyde Swimming and Waterpolo Club.
The Coach will be responsible for planning, managing, and delivering high-quality swimming coaching to club members, supporting swimmers at training and competitions. Club training sessions take place on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings as well as Friday mornings at Strathclyde sport, G40RF. Competitive fixtures take place on Wednesday afternoons, and home games will take place at the same venue.
The successful candidate will create a positive, responsive and productive relationship with the Club and support the development of team(s) in training and competition.
The role is for a maximum of 4.5 hours per week, and the successful candidate will be expected to be registered/register as Self Employed with HMRC and hold their own coaching insurance policy.
Description
Lead coaching at training sessions and at league matches.
Attempt to improve technical and performance development of swimmers.
Enhance the student experience through high-quality, engaging coaching.
Maintain accurate records on training attendance, team selections, and technical analysis of swimmers.
Regular evaluation of team performance.
In partnership with the committee, manage team selection and provide feedback.
Maintain regular communication with the Strathclyde Swimming and Waterpolo Club Committee, and Sports Union where required.
Support the development of student leadership skills, particularly with club committee members
Make sure all sessions comply with Health & Safety standards and maintain high standards with regards to Equality & Diversity.
Person Specifications
Essential
A Swimming Coaching qualification
Excellent inter-personal skills
Excellent motivation skills
Excellent verbal communication skills
Experience of university sport
Desirable
Competitive experience at performance level in Swimming
A clean driving license
A first aid certificate
Rates of Pay
£14 per hour, 4.5 hours a week.
