Are you passionate about swimming education and ready to lead the way in developing Scotland’s aquatics workforce? We’re looking for an experienced and inspiring Swim Development Trainer to join our award-winning team and help shape the future of swim teaching across Edinburgh.
What you’ll do
As Swim Development Trainer, you’ll play a key role in delivering and coordinating our Swim Education programme, including:
- Leading the delivery of Scottish Swimming Teaching Qualification (SSTQ) and RLSS training courses.
- Supporting the development of swim teachers, coaches, lifeguards, and Trainer Assessors.
- Designing and delivering CPD programmes to ensure high-quality coaching across our venues.
- Planning and managing the annual calendar of training courses, balancing workforce needs with external income opportunities.
- Building strong partnerships with national bodies like RLSS, Scottish Swimming, and sportscotland.
- Acting as a technical expert and mentor, setting standards and supporting continuous improvement.
What we’re looking for:
- Scottish Swimming SCQF Level 8 Tutor Teaching/Coaching Aquatics
- UKCC Level 2 Teacher of Swimming Certificate/SSTQ
- Approved RLSS Trainer Assessor
- At least 5 years’ experience in swim teaching, with a strong background in delivering coach education and mentoring
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and support a diverse range of learners
- A proactive, organised approach to managing training calendars, course delivery, and technical assessments

Working Arrangements
This is a hybrid role, with your time split between home working and our head office at Meadowbank Sports Centre. You will also be expected to work from various Edinburgh Leisure venues and make regular visits across the city.
