Glasgow Life is looking for a Sport and Physical Activity Coaches (Disability Swim) to join us across a 2.5 hour, 9 hour or 2 x 15 hour part time, permanent contract. As a Sport and Physical Activity Coach you will be joining our in-demand Disability Learn to Swim programme (9 or 2.5 hours) or our schools swimming programme (15 hours). You will be part of a dedicated team which supports children and young people with a disability to be water confident and learn to swim safely.
As a Sport and Physical Activity Coach (Disability Swim), you’ll be joining our Glasgow Life Sport team, playing your part in encouraging people to live an active Glasgow life. Through sport and physical activity, we promote inclusion and wellbeing throughout the city. As a Sport and Physical Activity Coach (Disability Swim) you’ll be an integral part of the team by delivering and implementing a comprehensive learn to swim programme for people with a disability. Reporting to the Sport and Physical Activity Officer (Cohesion) and working alongside an established team of coaching staff.
If you’re interested in joining us as a Sport and Physical Activity Coach you’ll need:
- Scottish Swimming Teaching Qualification (SSTQ) or equivalent
- Considerable experience of working with people with a disability
- Able to easily engage, communicate with and motivate people with a disability
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work effectively in a team
The Disability Learn to Swim programme role is working evening or weekends, for example Monday 3.45 - 6.15pm, Wednesday 3.45 - 7.15pm or Saturday 9.45am – 12.45pm
The Schools Swimming Programme role is working daytime, for example Tuesday to Thursday 9.45am - 2.45pm
