Lacrosse Scotland Development Officer

Term: The term runs for 1 year, with opportunity to extend to further years.

Payment: £15 per hour.

Commitment: approximately 10 hours per week. Flexible working, including evenings and weekends as required.

Expenses: expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with the Lacrosse Scotland Expense policy.

Lacrosse is a small, but very exciting, sport and Lacrosse Scotland is committed to developing our player base in Scotland across all ages and at all levels.

Lacrosse Scotland is recognised by sportscotland as the sports governing body. Lacrosse has Olympic recognition and part of our strategic plan is to retain and grow membership, build foundations for successful performance, promote our brand and our sport, whilst delivering lacrosse within a strong and safe strong governance framework.

To this end, Lacrosse Scotland is recruiting a Lacrosse Development Officer to develop the depth of coaching provision within schools and clubs across Scotland. The successful candidate will have experience designing and delivering coaching sessions to a range of groups, including at youth grassroots level, supporting teachers within new and existing school environments and at clubs and universities.

This post is regarded as regulated work and membership of the PVG Scheme will be required. This can be administered by Lacrosse Scotland for all paid members.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver coordinated sessions for a range of audiences to develop the breadth of coaches delivering lacrosse within schools, clubs and universities, and support players within these environments from beginners to elite level athletes.

Travel within Scotland to support new and existing lacrosse programmes, increasing the number of grassroots opportunities available to players.

Design and run tournaments throughout the season to increase competitive playing opportunities within Scotland.

Support the development of Lacrosse Scotland's Talent Pathway and coaching resources in collaboration with Performance and Development Directors.

Identify new growth opportunities, especially within underrepresented communities.

Attend development meetings and track metrics to report on participation and programme growth.

Act as an ambassador for Lacrosse Scotland, building strong relationships with local and national stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 years coaching experience within multiple environments (e.g. clubs, schools, universities).
  • Experience playing and/or coaching at a high level to provide lacrosse expertise.
  • Coaching qualification or willingness to work towards.
  • Umpiring qualification or willingness to coach towards.
  • Full, clean driving licence & ability to travel across Scotland.
  • Excellent time management and organisational ability, with the ability to work under own initiative.

Desirable

  • Qualification in relevant subject (e.g. Degree in Sports Coaching or similar)
  • Experience of working with and coordinating volunteers.
  • Understanding of government frameworks and initiatives providing opportunities to access increased funding.
