Head of Physiotherapy – Partick Thistle Football Club

Location: Glasgow, Scotland
Salary: Maximum £45,000pa, dependent on experience
Contract: Full-time, permanent

A leading professional football club in Scotland is seeking an experienced and driven Head Physiotherapist to lead and develop its medical and performance department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role at the heart of the club’s first-team operations, working closely with coaching staff to optimise player health, fitness, and performance.

The Role

As Head Physiotherapist, you will take overall responsibility for the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of players, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care. You will lead the medical team, manage injury prevention strategies, and play a vital role in keeping players match-fit throughout the season.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the club’s physiotherapy and medical services

  • Design and implement injury prevention and rehabilitation programmes

  • Provide pitch-side emergency aid and match-day medical support

  • Work collaboratively with coaching, sports science, and performance staff

  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with governing body regulations

  • Oversee player recovery, load management, and return-to-play protocols

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of medical and performance practices

Required skills & qualifications

  • Chartered Physiotherapist with relevant professional accreditation

  • Proven experience in elite sport, ideally within professional football

  • Strong leadership and team management skills

  • Excellent clinical reasoning and decision-making under pressure

  • Up-to-date knowledge of sports injury management and rehabilitation techniques

  • Flexible and committed, with the ability to work evenings and weekends

Desirable

  • Previous experience as a Head or Senior Physiotherapist

  • ATMMiF or equivalent pitch-side trauma qualification

  • Experience working within multidisciplinary performance teams
