Role Overview
Glasgow City Foundation Junior Academy is seeking enthusiastic and committed coaches to join our coaching team and support the development of young female footballers within our Junior Academy programme.
The successful candidates will play a key role in delivering high-quality coaching sessions, creating a positive learning environment, and helping players develop technically, tactically, physically, and socially in line with the values and philosophy of Glasgow City FC.
We are looking for coaches who are passionate about youth development, player-centred coaching, and creating an enjoyable environment where players can reach their potential.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate coaching sessions for academy players.
Support the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological development of players.
Create a positive, inclusive, and challenging learning environment.
Follow Glasgow City FC’s coaching philosophy and player development pathway.
Encourage players to develop confidence, creativity, decision-making, and a love for the game.
Provide constructive feedback to support individual player development.
Work collaboratively with other academy coaches and staff.
Assist with matchday coaching, including player preparation, team organisation, and post-match reflection.
Maintain high standards of professionalism, safeguarding, and player welfare at all times.
Coaching Schedule
Training:
Tuesdays and Thursdays (evening sessions)
Matches:
Saturdays or Sundays, depending on age group and fixture schedule.
Coaches will be expected to commit to both weekly training sessions and weekend fixtures throughout the season.
Person Specification
Essential:
Minimum UEFA C Licence qualification.
Experience coaching young players in a football environment.
Passion for developing players and supporting their individual journeys.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Ability to create a positive and motivating learning environment.
Commitment to safeguarding and player welfare.
Desirable:
Higher UEFA coaching qualifications (UEFA B Licence or above).
Experience working within a professional club academy environment.
Experience coaching female players.
Understanding of long-term player development principles.
Rate of Pay
Coaches holding a UEFA C Licence will receive a minimum rate of £15 per hour.
Rates will increase for coaches holding higher UEFA qualifications and will reflect experience and responsibilities within the academy programme.
