This post is part of a Sports Development team within the City of Edinburgh Council's Children Education and Justice Service working in close collaboration with the Scottish Football Association. The post covers a wide range of initiatives with a particular focus on promoting football among young people of all ages and ability in the city.
The post holder's key tasks will include:
- Increasing participation in football at both Primary and Secondary School age groups.
- Work in partnership with the Scottish FA South East Region to support identified community clubs.
- Provide specific initiatives for targeted groups such as girls, children and young people who live in poverty and for children and young people with additional support needs.
- Establish measurable targets for understanding player retention within targeted age range (Primary and Secondary aged children)
- Provide opportunities for talented players to develop their potential and progress to their highest level.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
