Location: Inverclyde (various schools and community venues)

Reports to: Football for All Lead

Contract Type: Part-Time, Fixed Term until March 2026 (with possible extension subject to funding)

Hours: 20 hours per week, typically between 2:00pm-6:00pm Monday to Friday, with additional delivery during school holiday camps

About Morton in the Community

Morton in the Community is the official charitable arm of Greenock Morton FC. Our mission is to use the power of football and sport to engage, inspire and empower people across Inverclyde. We deliver a broad range of inclusive programmes which promote physical health, mental wellbeing, education and community development.

Job Purpose

The Extra Time Programme Lead will be responsible for the delivery of the SFA Extra Time Programme across primary schools and community venues in Inverclyde. The role involves leading high-quality multi-sport sessions, youth workshops and community activities such as day trips and excursions. This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual with a background in sports coaching, play work or youth work, who is passionate about supporting young people and making a positive impact within the local community.

Key Responsibilities Programme Delivery

  • Deliver fun, engaging multi-sport sessions to children aged 4-11 after school hours.
  • Lead and support workshops on themes such as social development, teamwork, confidence and healthy lifestyles.
  • Build positive relationships with participants, school staff and parents/carers.
  • Ensure all sessions provide a safe, inclusive and positive environment which supports children's development.

Planning and Reporting

  • Contribute to session planning, evaluations and programme development.
  • Manage monitoring and reporting requirements through the My Club Hub system.
  • Liaise with local schools and Active Schools Inverclyde to ensure smooth programme delivery.
  • Assist with the planning, organisation and supervision of occasional day trips and outings (primarily during school holiday periods)

Community Engagement

  • Act as a positive role model, upholding the values of Morton in the Community.
  • Encourage participation and create an environment where children feel safe, valued and motivated.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of working with children and young people in a community, sports or educational setting.
  • Relevant qualifications in sports coaching, youth work, childcare or play work (minimum NC/HNC or equivalent).
  • Strong communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
  • Ability to engage with young people of differing abilities and backgrounds.
  • A positive, enthusiastic attitude with a commitment to inclusion and child development.
  • Membership of the PVG Scheme (or willingness to obtain prior to employment).
  • Flexibility to work afternoons and early evenings.

Desirable Criteria

  • SFA coaching badges or other sports governing body accreditations.
  • First Aid and Child Protection qualifications.
  • Experience of planning or delivering workshops on personal development themes.
  • Access to own transport.
