Overview
Dundee United Football Club are seeking a creative Digital Marketing Manager to lead the club's digital output across all channels and drive fan engagement and commercial activity.
This pivotal role bridges communications across all football and non-football departments, delivering creative marketing campaigns that bring the club's story and products to life, from kit launches and event promotions to partnership activations and matchday experiences.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working closely with all departments, the successful candidate will manage Dundee United's digital presence and ensure all marketing activity reflects the passion, professionalism, and pride of the club.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Creation & Design
- Design engaging and professional digital graphics for social media, website, and in-stadium displays (Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator preferred).
- Produce weekly big screen and LED content in collaboration with the Content and Commercial teams.
- Lead the creation and publication of the digital matchday programme.
- Ensure a consistent visual identity aligned with club brand guidelines.
- Support the production of creative assets for commercial events, retail promotions, and partnership activations.
Digital & Campaign Marketing
- Plan and execute digital marketing campaigns to support ticketing, hospitality, retail, and partnership objectives.
- Develop and deliver targeted promotional strategies for events, matchdays, and club initiatives.
- Work closely with the Commercial team to market and support corporate events, hospitality promotions, and partner activations.
- Collaborate with the Retail department to plan and promote product launches, kit unveilings, and seasonal campaigns.
- Analyse campaign performance and provide insights to drive continual improvement and revenue growth.
Social Media Management
- Schedule, post, and monitor content across all official channels (Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn).
- Collaborate with the Head of Content on content calendars, ensuring coverage of commercial priorities and fan engagement.
- Manage live matchday coverage and in-stadium digital activity.
- Analyse engagement data to optimise reach, conversions, and performance.
Events & Matchday Activation
- Support the Football, Commercial and Events teams with planning, promotion, and on-the-day delivery of events, business functions, and fan experiences.
- Assist with the coordination and marketing of key events such as kit launches, fan days, and business networking events.
- Provide live digital coverage and content support for all first team matches.
Copywriting & Editorial
- Write and edit engaging copy for website articles, marketing campaigns, and social media platforms.
- Craft compelling messaging for football, ticketing, hospitality, and retail offers.
- Maintain editorial standards, tone of voice, and accuracy across all supporter-
- facing communications.
- Support the drafting and proofreading of official club announcements and press releases.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in digital marketing and content creation.
- Strong understanding of campaign marketing, audience targeting, and revenue- focused communication.
- Advanced skills in Adobe Photoshop and/or Illustrator (After Effects or Premiere Pro advantageous).
- Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail.
- Experience in publishing to social media and managing campaign performance analytics.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- A creative thinker with a commercial mindset and a keen eye for design.
Desirable
- Experience working in football, sports, events, or a fast-paced marketing environment.
- Knowledge of CRM or email marketing tools.
- Experience with video editing or motion graphics.
- Understanding of social media analytics tools (Meta Business Suite, X Analytics, etc.).
- Knowledge of Scottish football and the Dundee United fan base.
