Coached Programme Assistant (Modern Apprentice): Sport Aberdeen

Sport Aberdeen in partnership with Scottish Swimming, Enable Works and sportscotland invites applications for our Modern Apprenticeship post.

This Modern Apprenticeship offers paid employment to a young person with a disability, who is 16- 24 years old and living within the Aberdeen area, with an interest in working in swimming.

A disability could be a physical, learning or sensory impairment, which may also include (this list is not exhaustive):

  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • Dyslexia, Dysgraphia or Dyscalculia
  • Dyspraxia
  • Tourette’s
  • Other thinking or learning differences (neurodivergence)
  • Long Term health Condition

The role combines on the job learning, with support, leading to a nationally recognised qualification. 

The successful applicant will be employed on a fixed term 18-month contract, working 25* hours per week, and will work towards achieving the SCQF Level 7 Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification (SSTQ). The salary is £12.60 per hour . Annual leave entitlement will be in line with Sport Aberdeen conditions of service.

The training will be provided on-the-job within Sport Aberdeen’s Coached Programmes Team and supported by Scottish Swimming.

The successful candidate will be expected to follow health and safety steps and attend all training.

*There may be an opportunity for additional teaching hours on completion of the Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification.
