Job Title: Canoe Sprint Coach
Contract: Fixed-Term (12 Months), Part-Time
Hours: 8 hours per week (flexibility required for evenings & weekends)
Salary: £12.60 per hour (Living Wage)
Location: Glasgow Kayak Club @ Firhill Basin

The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, responsible, and highly motivated Canoe Sprint Coach to join our team. This role is pivotal in supporting our growing membership and will involve coaching athletes from beginner to progressing levels, helping to recruit new youth members, and ensuring the day-to-day smooth running of sessions.
The successful candidate will be a passionate advocate for paddlesport, embodying our club values and inspiring the next generation of GKC members.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging and safe coaching sessions for a range of abilities.
- Play a leading role in the recruitment and retention of youth members.
- Oversee the setup, maintenance, and safety of all coaching equipment.
- Foster a fun, inclusive, and positive club environment for all athletes.
- Work as part of a team and report directly to the Head Coach.
- Ensure all activities comply with club policies and governing body guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and volunteers.
Who We Are Looking For (Essential Criteria)
- A strong personal background as an athlete in kayak or canoe sprint.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant coaching experience.
- Hold a valid RYA Level 2 Powerboat licence or be willing to obtain one promptly.
- Availability to work evenings and Saturdays.
- Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, hard-working, and detail-oriented approach.
- A genuine passion for athlete development and club growth.
Desirable Criteria
- Paddle UK Coaching Qualifications or equivalent
- Swimming teaching qualifications.
- A D1 + E driving licence for trailer towing.
- PVG membership (or willingness to undergo a check).
