Board Member Vacancy - Scottish Korfball Association

The Scottish Korfball Association (SKA) is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Board Member to support the strategic development of Korfball in Scotland. 

The SKA is the national governing body for korfball in Scotland. Korfball is the worlds only dedicated mixed-gender team sport, combining elements of basketball and netball, where two teams compete to score by shooting into a raised basket called a korf.

The SKA oversees:

  • A three tier domestic league structure across Scotland.

  • A player development pathway.

  • Coach and refereeing development.

  • The Scotland national team.

As a developing governing body, the SKA is working to strengthen participation, governance, and performance at every level of the sport. 

Key Responsibilities:

As an SKA Board Member, you will:

  • Attend regular Board meetings, held remotely over google meet.

  • Participate in quarterly Management Committee meetings in an advisory capacity.

  • Provide guidance on governance best practice within Scottish sport.

  • Support budget review and financial oversight.

  • Contribute to the development of SKA’s long-term strategic plan.

  • Support policy development in areas including welfare, equality and inclusion.

  • Help build relationships with external partners to grow the sport in Scotland.

  • Provide support to new committee members where appropriate.

We welcome applicants who can offer:

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Strategic thinking.

  • Experience in sport, governance or organisational leadership.

  • Passion for developing sport in Scotland. 

  • In particular, we are seeking applicants with finance, accounting, or budget experience to help strengthen the organisations financial oversight.

  • Previous board experience is helpful but not essential.

  • An interest in Korfball is encouraged but not required, you'll quickly become a fan!
