Basketball Development Officer: basketballpaisley

Location: Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire

Reports to: Club Committee

Position Type: Part-time (10-15 hours per week, with potential for expansion)

Overview:

The Basketball Development officer is responsible for increasing participation and enhancing basketball coaching across Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire. This role is ideal for students or those exploring a new career in sports development, primarily focused on evening coaching sessions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and deliver coaching sessions for young players.
  • Develop inclusive basketball programs, focusing on girls and underrepresented groups.
  • Build relationships with schools, clubs, and community partners to promote youth sports.
  • Organise camps and events during school holidays.
  • Keep records of coaching activities and report progress to the club committee.

Requirements:

  • Experience in coaching or working with kids (basketball-specific experience not required).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, mainly in the evenings and some weekends.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Passion for youth development and promoting physical activity.

Work Environment:

Most hours will involve coaching sessions in Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire, mainly in the evenings, making it ideal for those looking to gain experience in youth sports coaching.

Term time hours required are: 

Monday 4.30-7.30

Tuesday 4.30-7pm

Wednesday 3-8pm

Friday 5-7pm

Holiday hours will available based on the candidates availability..
