The role
This role will provide elite medical cover for players across the Academy during training sessions and matches.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver pitch-side and immediate medical care at games, training sessions, and during team travel.
- Assess and manage acute injuries and illnesses, including first aid and emergency response.
- Support the club's injury management plans by liaising with full-time medical staff regarding ongoing cases.
- Document clinical interactions in line with club and legal standards.
- Ensure compliance with relevant anti-doping procedures and match-day medical regulations.
- Travel with teams (when required) to provide medical support on domestic or international trips.
- Work collaboratively with medical staff, club physiotherapists, performance staff and coaching staff.
- Attend pre-match briefings and maintain awareness of medical protocols and player-specific needs.
The candidate
- Medical degree and full GMC registration.
- Medical indemnity insurance suitable for elite sport.
- Valid certifications in pitch side emergency care (Sport Promote, ATMMIF)
- Experience in pitch-side or sports-related medical care.
- Ability work evenings, weekends and travel as required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in high-pressure environments.
- Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding.
