Newbattle Community High School

Newbattle Young Ambassadors Ella and Aimee have been super busy since the conference in September.

They have advertised and lead our P7 Transition to Sport & Wellbeing at Newbattle. Over 130 pupils across our local authority joined us for an afternoon in PE where they mixed with other primary schools and participated in sports with those who they will be going into S1 with in the summer. This event with another variety of activities will take place twice before the pupils join Newbattle in August.

They have also updated our Colours Criteria. We celebrate success through our Sporting Superstars posters on social media but also have a colours board. The YAs have spent time adapting the current criteria to make it more specific and easier for our pupils at Newbattle to be recognised for their sporting successes.

The girls also encouraged other girls in the school to participate in sport during Scottish Women & Girls in Sport Week by holding events such as girls only clubs which allowed girls to be more comfortable while trying new sports.
