Trustees: Scottish Golf Charitable Trust

Are you passionate about golf?

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to play golf. Do you? Can you help us to raise funds to promote golf in Scotland, encouraging and enabling as many people as possible, irrespective of their background or ability, to play and enjoy golf. Scottish Golf Charitable Trust is looking for candidates for three trustee positions for its Board.

We believe that golf should be open to everyone to play, whatever their ability or circumstances.

We want to encourage more people to play and enjoy golf, whether the occasional social golfer or those who can represent Scotland at the highest levels of the game.

We want to help clubs and their vital volunteers have the skills to support all their members and attract new members while creating a sustainable net zero future for golf in Scotland.

We do this by making grants to individuals, clubs and charities who share our aims and passion for golf in Scotland.

Following launch of our new strategy in May 2024, we are now recruiting for three trustees to join our board.

Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • A passion for golf
  • An understanding of golf in Scotland and the golf industry

Two of the candidates will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Extensive networks in business or civic life in Scotland and internationally which you have built through an executive career in professional services or corporate affairs.
  • Willingness to contribute to the identification and securing of donors for the Trust.

Once candidate will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge and experience of the Golf Industry in the UK and internationally.

The key accountabilities of a charity trustee include:

  • Set and maintain the vision, mission and values of the charity.
  • Ensure the Charity's resources are appropriately managed.
  • Act in, and further, the Charity's best interests.

Requirements

  • Act as an ambassador for the Charity and represent the interests of all stakeholders.
  • Actively participate in all Board meetings and other Trustee meetings as they arrive.
  • Contribute to the effective performance of the Board.

If you share our appetite and passion for golf in Scotland, putting "participation for all" at the heart of what we are delivering across communities, then please get in touch.
