Lead Physiotherapist (Rugby): Watsonian Football Club

Watsonian Football Club are looking for a Lead Physiotherapist (HPC / HCPC registered) to work with their women's 1st XV. The women's team play at the highest level of domestic club rugby in the Scottish Premiership.

This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone with an interest in rugby (or other sport) who wants to hone their pitch side skills.

Key responsibilities:

  • To provide an evening training session clinic (Thursdays) to undertake assessments and treatments.
  • To book and schedule appointments directly with players using Spond, our player management app.
  • To provide pre-match strapping and pitch side support including assessment and treatment of players during home and away matches.
  • Understand and implement the club's emergency medical and concussion procedures during a match.
  • Ensure that the necessary medical equipment is present at training sessions and games.
  • Order and maintain stock inventory of medical supplies.
  • Communicate effectively with coaching and management regarding player fitness and availability and players regarding appointments and ongoing injuries. Push back and challenge when needed.
  • Manage the Scottish Rugby injury reporting system (SCRUMS).

Essential Criteria:

  • Rugby or other sports / pitchside experience
  • SCRUMCAPS first aid qualified, or willing to undertake
  • Strong communication skills, this role liaises with the players, coaches and club central medical team and it's critical you can collaborate effectively
  • BSc degree in Physiotherapy
  • Hold appropriate governing body certification (HPC/HCPC and CSP)
  • Availability to work Thursday evening (6-8pm)
  • Availability to work weekends (matches are mostly Saturday afternoons but may also be Friday evenings or Sundays afternoons on rare occasion)
