Head Academy Sports Scientist: Partick Thistle Youth Academy

Partick Thistle Youth Academy are looking to recruit a Lead Academy Sport Scientist to join and head up our forward-thinking and ambitious Performance Department.

The Lead Academy Sport Scientist will deliver a programme of sport science support services to our academy players. We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated and passionate about working with and developing young players. In addition, we are seeking someone who can develop good working relationships with a variety of groups including fellow practitioners, coaches, young players, and their parents. The successful candidate will be joining a team of forward thinking and ambitious staff who are dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement our long-term athletic development framework to help prepare youth players for the physical demands of full-time professional football.
  • Maintain a data management system for player monitoring
  • Design and deliver gym-based training sessions.
  • Design and deliver speed, agility, plyometric & conditioning sessions.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships and effective communication pathways with players, coaches, and other members of the Performance Department.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in sport science or related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience of providing sport science support services to athletes, preferably within a professional football club.
  • UKSCA accredited or ability to apply within 6 months.
  • Postgraduate degree in sport science or related discipline. (Desirable)
  • BASES accredited or working towards via supervised experience pathway. (Desirable)
  • ISAK level 1 accredited. (Desirable)
  • Legal right to work in the UK.

The role will have regular contact with children, and it is therefore required by law to have a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check through Disclosure Scotland as a condition of employment.
