Cycling Programme Co-ordinator - Broxburn United Sports Club (BUSC)

Contract type: 8 Months Fixed Term. 10 hours per week March 2025

Salary: £12 per hour

Broxburn United Sports Club (BUSC) is committed to bringing people together from all demographics through the medium of sport, physical activity and education. We work with various partners to deliver programmes that support physical and mental wellbeing, social inclusion and education.

Scottish Cycling is the National Governing Body for cycle sport in Scotland. We are the voice of our sport and the largest cycling membership organisation in Scotland, representing the aspirations of our community.

Job Purpose

BUSC and Scottish Cycling are working in partnership with the principal aim of developing organised participation and recreational cycling opportunities for all ages. This will primarily focus on recreational cycling activity targeting school children, Women and Girls, family and intergenerational sessions and mental health.

Our focus for the programme will be on delivering cycling skills for young children, enhancing participants physical and mental wellbeing whilst facilitating social inclusion for all age groups and demographics, fostered around a social and welcoming environment.

Key Role Responsibilities

  • To work with the Multi-Sport and Activity Manager to develop a programme of cycling activity
  • To deliver and or facilitate supervised sessions with a key focus on education, health, wellbeing, social inclusion.
  • To develop and foster a safe, social and welcoming environment for all participants
  • Be innovative in approach to cycling sessions making them attractive to all who participate
  • Develop sessions that encourage participants to engage on a regular basis, allowing us to meet targets that support health and social outcomes
  • Work with any partners that can support the cycling sessions/programme
  • With Multi Sport and Activity manager develop marketing and communication campaigns and collateral that encourage participation
  • Collect and process monies when applicable
  • Develop the programme that may support enhanced funding in future
  • Develop and collect monitoring and evaluation data that supports impact of programme/sessions

Other Information

The role will be employed by BUSC and benefit from the opportunity to access a range of tools and resources, as well as expertise from staff across the organisation to support their work.

This is a fixed hour post at 10 hours per week. However when required additional hours can be added to support programme delivery.

This post requires the post holder to regularly carry out work during evening and weekend periods.

Relevant work experience - desirable

  • Understanding of the cycling landscape in Scotland.
  • Knowledge of British and Scottish Cycling programmes and awards
  • Experience of producing and implementing development plans
  • Experience in volunteering, sports development, coaching, or events

Skills - essential

  • IT literate
  • British Cycling Introduction to Coaching or Equivalent
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Skills - desirable

  • Experience of marketing and promotion
  • British Cycling Level 2 or Equivalent
  • Able to produce quality reports and presentations
  • Good understanding of engaging people through social media platforms
