Scottish Swimming, the Governing Body for the aquatic sports of swimming, para-swimming, diving, water polo, artistic swimming, masters swimming and open water swimming in Scotland, is recruiting for a Chief Executive Officer with the vision, integrity and expertise to lead our sport for current and future generations.

The sporting landscape in Scotland, and across the UK, is dynamic and challenging and success in our sports relies on having the right people, partnerships, programmes and places to enable us to achieve our vision that “everyone can swim”. Our organisational priorities include excellent governance, wellbeing and safeguarding for all, ensuring the highest possible standards of service to our members, and an inclusive organisational culture, making Scottish Swimming a stand-out organisation to be part of.

Against this backdrop, we are looking to find an experienced leader who will provide the direction and leadership needed to help us continue to achieve our ambitious corporate plan goals: More Swimmers, Stronger Clubs, Supporting Athletes and Active Communities.

Reporting to the Chair of Scottish Swimming’s Board and leading the Senior Management Team, the role will include significant work with key partner organisations including sportscotland, Aquatics GB, Swim England and Swim Wales. The successful candidate will also have a proven track record of positive influence as we continue our work with the Scottish Government and Councils across Scotland, showcasing swimming pools to be at the heart of active communities, providing safe spaces and a foundation for good mental health and physical activity. You will also be able to demonstrate the skills to develop and maintain excellent relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders and partners.

It goes without saying that you will be a dynamic and creative leader with experience in developing a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. We are looking for someone who understands what it means to develop excellence in all areas of our work. The remit is rich and varied addressing the needs of a changing organisation while increasing participation and maintaining a world-class athlete development pathway in a sport that is universally accessible. Your strategic planning, communication, financial management and leadership skills will be vital in this role. We are seeking an outstanding individual – one who understands the importance of culture, supporting our membership, sports and clubs whilst understanding the power of partnerships, and the emotion of sport.

In return you will be offered an attractive salary, including contributory pension, as well as being part of a supportive, aspirational and focused team who aim to ensure that Scottish Swimming continues to lead the way within Scottish sport.

Scottish Swimming is committed to a culture of inclusivity and diversity and we select staff solely based on their ability to do the job for which they are being recruited. We have a set of values that are visible on our website, embedded in the organisation, and those values are what we actively seek out in job candidates. We see everyone as individuals and welcome the ideas and experiences all potential applicants can bring in terms of culture, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, religion, disability, sexual orientation and beliefs.
