Active Every Day Challenge

Sport and physical activity should be part of our everyday routines. Kick start your year by joining our 2-week challenge and getting your school active every day!

The aim of the game is to see who can rack up the most time being active in your school. Awards can then be given to the individuals and year groups that perform the best!

Make sure that everyone in your school is included and knows that any form of physical activity counts. So, whether you enjoy walking, dancing, cycling, or any other activity – we want to know about it!

The challenge will run from Monday 20 January until Friday 31 January, however you can change the dates to suit your school if needed.

We know that some schools may still be in prelim time and if that is the case, maybe this challenge can be set for younger year groups – it’s totally up to you, think about what will work for your particular school!

Below are some resources to help you to run the challenge and promote it within your school.

We have posters to publicise the challenge, some social media templates, and an activity tracker sheet for pupils to log how long they have been active each day. This could be a 20 minute walk to school, an hour playing netball after school or a 30 minute cycle to meet your friends at the weekend. Whatever it is, make sure to keep track of ALL the activity throughout the two weeks.

Tracker sheets can be downloaded as a PDF file and filled in on a phone or laptop. If pupils have trouble with that, they can also be filled in directly on Canva with a free account.

Alternatively, you may wish to print physical copies or provide pupils with the link to do so themselves – just make sure you are clear on how you want the information to be gathered and where it should be sent once complete!

You can then gather in the tracker sheets at the end of the two weeks and create a leaderboard within the school to showcase who has been the most active. Speak with your PE department about organising a prize for the winner!

We will be setting some mini challenges throughout the 2 weeks over on our Instagram so make sure you keep in touch and share your progress by tagging @YAScotland and using the hashtags #YAScotland & #ActiveEveryDay.
