The sportscotland School Sport Award reviewed, refreshed and relaunched in 2022 with help and feedback from a number of our partners. Since the re-launch, over 1000 schools across Scotland have now signed up to the award.
Some of the key changes include:
New assessment tool website and questions
Increased focus on continuous improvement, with a new action planning section on the website
Awards can be achieved all year round, no need to wait until the end of the academic year
Streamlined Gold application process with significantly less evidence required
Across Scotland, 348 schools currently hold a Gold School Sport Award. 149 schools hold a Silver School Sport Award and 70 schools have achieved a Bronze School Sport Award. (April 2026)
Submission dates
Schools can apply at any time throughout the year for bronze or silver. If you qualify for gold, there is some further information to submit for review.
Gold submissions will be reviewed periodically throughout the year.
All schools looking to submit for a Gold School Sport Award for academic year 2025/26 must complete this by Friday 29 May 2026.
