The Active Girls initiative aims to Increase girls and young women’s participation in PE, sport & physical activity.
Active Girls includes an annual Active Girls Day (it is on 28 October 2016) where schools, clubs and hubs are encouraged to focus on opportunities for girls participation. Active Girls includes programmes delivered in partnership with YDance, Youth Scotland and The Youth Sport Trust.
As part of Active Girls, Fit for Girls is a joint initiative between sportscotland and Youth Sport Trust promoting physical activity amongst girls and young women through bespoke training for education providers.
YDance, in partnership with sportscotland, deliver three programmes under YDance Active providing opportunities for young women and the teachers who work with them to get involved with Dance.
Youth Scotland in partnership with sportscotland deliver the Girls on the Move project which is designed to increase physical activity levels among girls and young women in Scotland.
We encourage everyone to get involved in Active Girls and share their celebrations using #ActiveGirls or #ActiveGirlsDay
