The Active Girls programme aims to deliver four outcomes:
- Increased opportunities for girls and young women to participate in sport and physical activity
- Improved access to leadership opportunities and roles for girls and young women in school and community sport
- Greater recognition of the power of girls to motivate and inspire their peers and more opportunities to do so
- Enhanced knowledge and understanding of workforce delivering PE, sport and physical activity to girls and young women
These outcomes are being met not in isolation, but as part of our school and community team within sportscotland to ensure joined up delivery and understanding with all other programmes that are also delivering for girls and young women. This includes how we work with our Active Schools, community sport hub networks, our young people as leaders approach and work with the Young People’s Sport Panel.
We are continuing to explore our offer to the workforces delivering PE, sport and physical activity to girls and young women in partnership with Youth Sport Trust and have engaged with Youth Scotland to deliver a pilot post that is delivered focused work with identified CSHs and DCI clubs.
