Capturing impact

A key aspect of the Summer of Sport will be in reflecting and celebrating the success of the campaign by capturing and sharing inspirational stories showcasing the impact of funding in helping young people get active, stay active and improve their lives.

As the deliverers of programmes on-the-ground, we will rely on your support to highlight examples and case studies which bring the success and impact of your programmes to life. For example:

  • Has a child taken part in sport for the first time ever thanks to a Summer of Sport funded programme?

  • Have children been inspired to take up a new sport since taking part?

  • Have you seen record high participation in your summer programmes?

  • Have your future programmes seen an uplift in sign-ups since hosting Summer of Sport events?

  • Have parents / children spoken to you about improvements to physical / mental health after taking part?

Stories like these can be captured as case studies and shared with media to demonstrate the impact and legacy of the Summer of Sport.

Capturing content from events

  • Consider arranging photographers or videographers to attend events and capture the success and enjoyment they are delivering. Or capture your own photography or videos if you’re able.

  • Be mindful of consent, and provide in advance photography consent forms to parents ahead of events you plan to capture in content.

  • Consider doing short interviews with parents / children to speak about their appreciation for the events and excitement for the 2026 Summer of Sport.

Capturing Quantitative Data

As well as inspirational stories, all partners are required to provide sportscotland with relevant quantitative data, in order for us to fully understand and measure the nationwide impact of the 2026 Summer of Sport funding. This is a prerequisite of receiving funding and should include, but is not limited to:

  • The number and range of delivery partners

  • The number and range of sessions delivered

  • The number of new coaches and volunteers engaged

  • The number of children/young people and families engaged (including % of those at a higher risk of poverty).
