St. Ambrose High School, North Lanarkshire

The Young Ambassadors (Maggie and Olivia) at St. Ambrose High School have been fantastic role models for the rest of their school.

As part of their role, they are responsible for leading a Thursday lunchtime club. This term, they have focused on girl’s dodgeball and they regularly deliver the club to 20-30 pupils every week.

Alongside this, they chair the School Sport Committee. At the latest meeting they asked representatives from each year group what extra-curricular clubs they would like to attend next academic term.

Maggie and Olivia are beneficiaries of the Sport Leadership pathway in St. Ambrose and have developed various employability skills and qualifications. As a result, they are now employed by Active NL in the role of Sport Coach.

On top of all of this, both Maggie and Olivia represent Scotland at Gaelic Football and represent their regional netball team.

Craig McIntyre, Active Schools coordinator for St. Ambrose High School said: “We are very lucky to work with such confident Young Ambassadors who are willing to speak during assemblies to encourage participation and inspire the next generation of leaders.”
