The records of sportscotland constitute an auditable account of the agency’s activities, which provides evidence of the business, actions, decisions, and resulting policies formed by sportscotland. sportscotland recognises that records represent a vital asset, which support the daily functions of sportscotland and protect the rights and interests of staff and members of the public who engage with the organisation. Effective record keeping supports staff and teams in achieving efficiency, consistency and continuity of work and enables the delivery of sportscotland’s objectives and services. It seeks to ensure that the correct information is captured, stored, maintained, retrieved, and destroyed or preserved in accordance with business needs and statutory and legislative requirements.
The management of records, regardless of format, is an essential part of enabling sportscotland to demonstrate achievement of the outcomes set out in its Corporate Plan. sportscotland will maintain records management policies, procedures, and practices across all activity areas. These will be based upon the requirements of the Public Records (Scotland) Act 2011, UK Data Protection legislation, Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act, records management best practice and the principles.
