What is digital accessibility?

Digital accessibility refers to how usable a website, app or digital experience is for all users.

When producing digital material it is possible to produce content that isn't accessible to people with disabilities (20% of the Scottish population) yet it is simple to make sure nobody is excluded.

When developing digital content, we must also consider the needs of people using a broad range of devices, particularly mobile users and those with slower internet connections.

We will all experience accessibility issues at some point in our lives due to temporary and situational disabilities for example when on public transport or when injured.

Outlined in this guidance are a few simple things that we can do that will help to make our information accessible to all. The guidance follows general good practice, but it is also important to know that at sportscotland have a legal obligation to make our digital publications accessible to all.
