Safeguarding in sport

You do not need any qualifications to volunteer, just enthusiasm and a desire to make a difference through sport. However, as a volunteer or paid coach, you will be asked by your club or deployer to take a Child Wellbeing and Protection in Sport course and have a PVG check. Both of these are quick and straightforward to complete, and you will get help to do them. This is an essential part of the process of becoming a coach and should ALWAYS be viewed as positive steps to keeping your participants and you safe. If you need insurance, for example if you intend to be a self-employed coach, you will also be asked to provide evidence of this.

Find out more about child wellbeing and protection, the PVG scheme and to access relevant resources and training below.
