Swimming Instructor: Little Nessies

We are currently recruiting for swimming instructors to join our fabulous team! Not got the qualifications - don't worry! We will help you gain the relevant qualifications with financial support packages available for the right candidate!

If you are aged 16 years or over and you are able to travel throughout Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Livingston, are flexible to work evenings and weekends - then we would love to hear from you.
Immediate start with training provided.

Role Purpose:

To teach people of all ages and abilities to develop swimming skills, technique, and confidence in the water through the Little Nessies learn to swim programme. To deliver this programme to a high standard through all venues covering Lanarkshire, Glasgow and Livingston. Reporting to the Operations Manager and ensuring all customers are provided with an excellent level of service.

Main Duties

  • To plan and deliver lessons ensuring adherence to the scheme of work and lesson plans
  • Ensure safe provision of all equipment and ensure it is used correctly
  • Identify participants’ abilities and encourage them to reach their full potential
  • Plan and deliver sessions appropriate to the level of swimmer
  • Provide explanations and demonstrate swimming techniques
  • Correct faults in swimming techniques and identify ways to improve performance
  • To be a positive role model, creating a positive and fun environment in which to motivate and encourage children and adults to participate in swimming
  • Set ground rules for each session
  • Evaluate sessions and give feedback
  • Regularly assess each participant’s ability and progress and arrange for the award of the appropriate certificates using our online portal
  • To attend regular meetings with the Operations Manager as and when necessary


  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude towards swimming
  • Good communicator with perseverance and patience
  • The ability to inspire confidence and motivate swimmers
  • The ability to encourage people and put them at ease
  • An understanding of how to differentiate in a teaching session
  • Professional, punctual and well-organised person responsible for the implementation of swimming classes
  • Flexibility to work weekdays, evenings and weekends

Additional Requirements:

Ideal candidate will hold the following qualifications or equivalent:

  • PVG Scheme Member
  • Level 2 Swimming Teacher or equivalent
  • Pool Lifeguard or Pool Emergency Procedures
  • First Aid at work


  • £8.50 to £12.75 per hour
  • Dependant on experience
