SALARY: £10-£12 per hour (sessional) *dependent on experience
LENGTH: Sessional
WEEKLY HOURS: Sessional
LOCATION: Erskine, Port Glasgow or Greenock
OFFICE BASE: Trident House, Paisley (if required)
RESPONSIBLE TO: General Manager
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Coaches and General Volunteers

 

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

The primary purpose of REACT Sports, Registered Charity SC045050, is the advancement of public participation in recreational, grass-roots basketball, netball and dance among children and young people. The secondary purpose is the advancement of citizenship through teaching and instilling the five REACT values, which are Respect, Enable, Achievable, Community and Togetherness.

The role of the REACT Basketball Development Coach is to grow and develop the respect designated Area Hub of REACT Basketball. This primarily includes, but not limited to, increasing levels of public participation among children & young people through the delivery of high-quality basketball sessions, growing the Area Hub membership and empowering and equipping young people with the necessary tools to coach basketball.

MAIN RESPONSIBILTIES OF THE REACT BASKETBALL DEVELOPMENT OFFICER:

• Increasing levels of public participation in basketball among children & young people aged 5-25 years
• Delivering high-quality school and basketball training sessions to children & young people aged 5-25 years
• Increasing and sustaining the number of young people, aged 16-25 years, qualified as basketball coaches
• Working in partnership with local Active Schools & Sports Development Teams to provide a pathway of progression from extra-curricular school basketball to REACT Basketball Area Hubs
• Working in partnership with key agencies such as Police Scotland, local Foodbanks and other agencies as directed by your line-manager, for the delivery of REACT value talks
• Working in conjunction with the support programmes of REACT Sports to provide further benefit/opportunities to the recruited members of your respective Area Hub

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES OF ALL REACT BASKETBALL STAFF, WHETHER PAID OF VOLUNTARY:

• Upholding and Demonstrating the five core REACT values and ensuring value talks are delivered to a highly effective standard
• Upholding the React Basketball Constitution, Duty to Care Policy and other relevant policies and procedures
• Adhering to the React Basketball Player Development Model and Coaching Curriculum
• For monitoring and, if necessary, dealing with the behaviour of participants that attend the services offered by the assigned Area Hub
• Attending monthly Leadership and, if necessary, Management Team meetings and providing relevant information
• Providing an accurate monthly report of the progress on designated role and Area Hub
• Depending on line-level; appropriately collecting, recording and depositing of training and event monies/fees
