Lead Triathlon Coach: Arran Junior Triathlon Club

In partnership with Arran High School

Up to £12000 per year – Contract for Provision of Services

We require a Lead Coach for a truly unique and exciting opportunity to develop Arran Junior Triathlon Club and the Arran High School – School of Sport for Triathlon.

This post, which can be up to 15 hours per week by agreement, represents a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to work on the incredible Island of Arran and develop the first School of Sport for Triathlon in Scotland.  This unique partnership between Arran High School and Arran Junior Triathlon Club is supported by Triathlon Scotland and is part-funded by Sport Scotland for a period of 2 years initially.  Following the promotion of our lead coach to another performance coaching position, the opportunity has become available.

This post will offer excellent experiential learning opportunities in coaching, as well as a fantastic working environment and highly motivated young people, school staff and adult volunteers. The Lead Coach will help ‘grow’ the Junior Triathlon Club and contribute to the successful development of young athletes, in line with British Triathlon’s Athlete Development Framework, through the School of Sport.

You may be a professional triathlete looking for the opportunity to develop your coaching skills and ‘give something back’, you may already have significant coaching experience and wish to be an integral part of this exciting and innovative venture, or your background could be completely different.  Whatever your motivation, we would love to hear from you!

Although this is a contracted position for the provision of services you will ultimately report to the Head Teacher of Arran High School and the Arran Junior Triathlon Club committee. The Lead Coach role will involve a wide and varied range of duties including: programme planning, coach co-ordination and development, parental liaison & session delivery. This will amount to between 10 and 15 hours per week (to be agreed prior to taking up the post), with potential for more hours.
