Glasgow Life is looking for a Health & Wellbeing Assistant to join us on a 35 hour, full time, fixed term contract for a period up to 31st July 2027. As a Health &Wellbeing Assistant you will be joining our in-demand Live Well Community Referral Team. You will be part of a dedicated team which seeks to address people’s needs in a holistic way by supporting individuals to co-create a wellbeing plan focussed on achieving goals that are most important to them. It also aims to support individuals to take greater control of their own health and wellbeing.

As a Health & Wellbeing Assistant you’ll be joining our Glasgow Life Sport team, delivering our Live Well Community Referral Programme on behalf of all Glasgow Life teams.   You will play your part in encouraging people to live a healthier Glasgow life by supporting people to take part in a variety of cultural and sporting activities on their doorstep, promoting inclusion and wellbeing throughout the city.

The role

Live Well Community Referral offers a means of enabling health professionals, housing organisations, the police, social work and social care as well as a host of community organisations, to refer people to local, non-clinical services and activities. As a Health & Wellbeing Assistant you’ll be an integral part of the team by being the first point of contact to the programme for referrers and participants.  You will process referrals and liase with the Health & Wellbeing Advisers to assist them in managing their caseload and will support people over the telephone to improve their wellbeing  by providing information on a wide range of activities including arts classes, craft sessions, group learning, volunteering, digital support, green gyms, health walks, sports/fitness classes and book group.  You will also support people to access these activities by supporting them to book, making calls to group leaders on their behalf and then following up by telephone to see if they attended or need further support.

You will report to the Health & Wellbeing Development Officer and work alongside a recently established city-wide team of Health & Wellbeing Advisers. 

The candidate

If you’re interested in joining us as a Health & Wellbeing Assistant, you’ll need:                                                                                                         

  • An excellent telephone manner and the ability to listen effectively, patiently and build rapport in order to provide wellbeing support to people from a wide range of backgrounds                            
  • Experience of general administration, and up-to-date IT skills including the proficient use of Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience of using database software and an ability to accurately record and maintain sensitive participant information
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills and an ability to prioritise workload effectively
  • Ability to navigate online resources to research services and provide up to date information

Our city-wide contracts mean you will be flexible to work in any of our locations.

This position requires a Standard Disclosure. Please note successful candidates for the above position will be required to pay for their Disclosure.

Some of our roles are currently piloting hybrid working, with teams working between the office and home. Your line manager will agree these days with you if appropriate to your role.

This role is mainly working 9am – 5pm although some evening and weekend work may be required.
