Development & Competitions Assistant: Scottish Student Sport

Salary: circa £19k (University of Edinburgh Grade 4)

The coordinating body for sport and physical activity across Scotland’s Colleges and Universities - Scottish Student Sport (SSS) - seeks an outstanding individual to join the staff team at its headquarters, hosted by The University of Edinburgh.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Heads of Development and Competitions to provide assistance to the staff and volunteers of SSS, with a particular focus on the organisation, and delivery, of events, partnerships, and campaigns.

The member institutions of Scottish Student Sport represent in excess of 500 sports clubs, 50,000 staff and 500,000 students. Through SSS this huge population can enjoy access to well over 150 sport and physical activity events throughout the Academic Year. SSS also provides a whole host of member and network services to support excellence in the sector and champion the role of student sport in Scotland and beyond.

The Development & Competitions Assistant Role

We are currently seeking to appoint a full-time Development & Competitions Assistant to provide support to the staff and volunteers of Scottish Student Sport.

The successful candidate will need to have excellent organisational skills as they will be responsible for the effective coordination of national partnerships, events, and campaigns, balancing their workload across two of the three major strands of the organisation.

The post holder should have an interest in and knowledge of student sport and physical activity and have a minimum of two year’s experience in a sports administration capacity – either paid or voluntary.

In addition, the post holder should be able to demonstrate their knowledge of various Microsoft Office applications and data management systems. An excellent telephone manner is essential as is the ability to work individually and as part of a team. Experience or knowledge of BUCS fixtures is desirable.

It is anticipated that the post will commence in November and will be based at the SSS Office, which is hosted and supported by Sport & Exercise at the University of Edinburgh.

Interviews are scheduled to take place in Edinburgh on 1st November with shortlisted candidates being notified on 27th October.
