Remuneration: £5,000 to £7,000 per annum, plus expenses
Term: Up to three years, and may be extended for a further three years
Scottish Gymnastics (SG) is on a journey to becoming a world class governing body for our members and partners and we are looking for like-minded people who will help us on the way. Through our 12-year strategy we have identified a need to focus on areas that will make a real difference. This key role will help us to deliver our ambitions, those of our members and member clubs.
As our Chairperson, you would lead the Board of Directors and contribute to the strategic direction of Scottish Gymnastics, overseeing the overall management and implementation of the agreed strategy and business plan. The senior leadership team is led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and is responsible for the day to day running of the business. The chairperson provides the link between the SG board/ membership and the leadership team and works closely with the CEO to implement and evolve the overall strategy for SG.
Experience as a director, trustee or committee member within the commercial, voluntary or public sector would be beneficial along with significant experience in operating at a senior level in a strategic capacity. Highly developed leadership skills are key to be able to support, manage and challenge the CEO and other Board members.
This challenging role will suit highly motivated and committed individuals, who want to make a positive contribution to Scottish Gymnastics’ future and are able to chair approximately five board meetings per year at midweek evening meetings, along with at least two all day weekend meetings as well chair the Annual AGM and any EGMs. The successful applicant will work closely with the CEO through regular communications.
The role requires candidates to able to develop effective working relationships with key partners and have knowledge of the current sporting and political landscape. Candidates will require strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude and experience in public speaking.
