sportscotland statement on Phase 2 and early Phase 3 route map (24 June 2020)

Forbes Dunlop, Chief Operating Officer, sportscotland said:

"We welcome today’s announcement by the First Minister of further progression through the route map which will have positive implications for participation in sport and physical activity over the coming weeks.

“We know the benefits that sport and physical activity can have on the health and wellbeing of the nation so we have no doubt that today’s announcement will be great news for sports and communities across Scotland. However, while we welcome this development, public health and well being remains the most pressing priority and we must all play our part in supressing the spread of the virus.  We still remain within Phase 2 of the guidelines and we would ask that everyone continues to adhere to the guidance to ensure that the transition back to sport, at all levels, is as safe and effective as possible.

“We will continue to work with our partners in Scottish Government, governing bodies of sport and local authorities to understand the implications and develop appropriate guidance to support this next phase in the route map.”
